Squirt

It’s likely that you’ve seen or received Squirt Cycling Products around gravel races in Iowa. And, there’s a reason for that. The stuff works really well. A few years ago I got a few sample bottles and like some people shrugged it off and put them in a bin with all my other random bicycle tools and products.

Then one day I happened to clean my chain and go reaching for some other lube that I had used in the past and it was all gone. But, I had these small bottles of squirt, so I figured I would give it a try. Long story short, it was great!

The Loess Hills is known for beauty and ruggedness in the midwest, but it should also be known for having the finest dirt/dust in the world that gets literally into everything. And, once it starts to collect, it just turns most lubes into a sticky paste. What I found with Squirt when I ride on dusty limestone roads and loess dirt byways is that it sheds the dirt easily and works more like a wax than a petroleum lube. It’s really well suited for this area and gravel cycling in general.

As with all things, your mileage may vary, but I love the stuff. So we reached out to the Squirt social media team and they were so kind and generous. We’ll have free samples of chain lube to share with you and some larger bottles at the aid stations for you to use as well. Also, we’re going to be giving away Squirt product at our finish line raffles!

So, join me in welcoming Squirt to the Iowa Gravel Series as a sponsor, send Squirt some love on their Instagram, and if you have a Squirt success story, please share it in the comments!
