Can I ride my eBike?

posted on

The short answer is yes. The introduction of eBikes has allowed a growing population of riders to enjoy cycling. Fundamentally, eBikes are about giving people options and we like them.

Most folks understand that riding an eBike is not about competition, but being able to get outside and use their body as much as possible and have the support they need. So, if you’re riding an eBike or any thing with electric assistance, you’re not eligible for the podium positions and awards. You are eligible for finish line raffles and all the other aid station and support we provide on the race.

We do ask that you take responsibility for your equipment and understand we don’t have mechanical support for eBikes. Carry what you need to maintain your bike. Also, make sure you’re fully prepared to ride the distance you signed up for. Be topped off and ready to go. Some of our races start in somewhat remote locations, so there’s no guarantee of an outlet at the start/finish line or along the route. Also, be aware that some eBikes can be considerably heavier than a conventional bike and we may not be able to put your eBike on a rack designed for conventional bikes should you need vehicle support.

Overall, we think most of us know there is an eBike in our future because we all love to ride and have no interest in stopping. So, we encourage everyone to use the technology they need to have a great day in the saddle.
